Objective: To evaluate the overall heat transfer rate in a shell and tube heat exchanger.
Challenges: To model and mesh the shell and tube heat exchanger with and without baffles.
Details: Model and Mesh were generated using cad software. Baseline analysis without baffles were completed for shell and tube sections. Heat transfer between two streams of water flowing in the shell and tube region of heat exchanger were evaluated. Further study was carried out by adding baffles to the heat exchanger and evaluating the net heat transfer between the two domains.
Results: Evaluated the performance of shell and tube heat exchanger with and without baffles.
